HARVEY NICHOLS – DUBAI CELEBRATES 120 YEARS OF SWAROVSKI

Harvey Nichols – Dubai last week opened its doors to officially launch the much awaited book ‘Swarovski: A History of Collaborations in Fashion, Jewelry, Performance, and Design’ along with a dazzling in-store exhibition celebrating 120 years of the world’s most iconic crystal brand. Here for the launch was Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, and Colin McDowell, the respected writer and academic who charts the brand’s fashion heritage from the early days of haute couture in the book. The Harvey Nichols - Dubai team collaborated with Swarovski to stage the exclusive in-store exhibition showcasing the brand’s exquisite collaborations in art, fashion and design from the last 120 years, including pieces dating back to the 1920s from brand powerhouses such as Christian Dior, Balmain and Alexander McQueen. To officially launch the lavishly illustrated coffee table book published by Rizzoli, Nadja Swarovski and Colin McDowell took part in an informative panel discussion for customers, guests and design students which was moderated by WWD’s Middle East Contributor, Ritu Upadhyay. During the panel, stories and industry expertise about some of the iconic pieces created through Swarovski’s designer collaborations were discussed with many engaging questions asked by the audience. Following the discussion, guests had the opportunity to have their keepsake books signed. The Swarovski Archive Design Exhibition is now open to the public on Level 2 in-store until December 23rd with the chance to take home a piece of the celebration with the collectable coffee table book by Rizzoli. Alongside the exhibition, for this limited time only, Harvey Nichols – Dubai will also offer an exclusive selection of items from Atelier Swarovski’s Autumn/Winter 2015 Core and Designer collections featuring Philippe Ferrandis and Shaun Leane, and an exclusive limited-edition evening bag by Edie Parker using Swarovski crystals of which there are only 120 available globally.
